David & Me

David & Me is a one-person show theatricalizing moments in the life of artist David Wojnarowicz and the artist’s own life. Wojnarowicz (1954-1992) created a prolific body of work across visual arts, performance, non-fiction writing, music, film and queer activism while the AIDS epidemic upended arts and queer communities under a federal government that criminally neglected the marginalized.

Performance includes: text, movement, projection, immersive experience – the audience chooses stories performed by the actor in an organic/chance-based order to create a fireside, communal feel.

... a brilliantly conceived and performed show. The stories come to life with great grace and subtle detail — the emotional truth was palpable without him ever pushing for something. As a writer, he expertly weaves and intersects his family’s stories with David Wojnarowicz’s. I was incredibly moved.
